The Moniaive Chocolatiers

Our Story

In September 2009, The Moniaive Chocolatiers was established by Liz Cole in the quaint rural village of Moniaive in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland.

A few years later, Liz moved the business to Thornhill’s thoroughfare, eight miles east of Moniaive, where the business is set in a large, elegant and open-plan space opposite The Pegasus Monument and The Buccleuch & Queensberry Hotel.

Liz registered her unique Tartan Chocolate as a Limited Company in September 2018; this entity exists under the umbrella of The Moniaive Chocolatiers and has the trademark of “The World’s First Tartan Chocolate”.

Over the years, The Moniaive Chocolatiers have had an array of high profile clients including Vivienne Westwood, The Scottish Parliament, The Duke of Buccleuch, Dumfries House, The Royal Yacht Britannia, The Wallace Monument and Alex Kapranos (lead singer of ‘Franz Ferdinand’).

Most recently, in March 2019, Liz started to rebrand the business. We have been working conscientiously to update our photography, social media and website. We hope you like the changes we have made so far.
